A Rising Film Evaporator (RFE) is a vertical shell and tube heat exchanger with a vapor – liquid separator mounted at the top.

Falling Film Evaporator
As the name Falling Film Evaporator indicates the product is fed to the inside surface of a large number of tubes through which it passes downwards forming a thin film. Falling Film Evaporator steam enters the jacket surrounding the tubes and leaves at the bottom as condensate.
